Sean Ali of PeaceWorks Technology Solutions says the new Epic Opportunities website is more dynamic and interactive.

In an effort to increase its online presence, Epic Opportunities recently launched an exciting, more user-friendly website that provides more up-to-date information on its activities in the community.

The new website was officially unveiled June 24 and followed months of intensive discussions, brainstorming and hard work by Epic Opportunities staff and the organization’s partner on the project, PeaceWorks Technology Solutions, which handled the bulk of the design work on www.epicmb.ca.

In addition to presenting a more dynamic and visually appealing look, the site offers new features such as a photo gallery and events calendar. It continues to offer popular items such as career listings, feature stories and a history of the organization.

Development Coordinator Jim Timlick, who helped oversee the project, says the reimagined site is just another indication of the organization’s commitment to raising awareness of its activities in the community and increasing its profile.

“The Internet has become integral to the efforts of not-for-profits such as Epic Opportunities to reach their target audience and engage them,” Timlick says. “I believe this new website and what it has to offer better enable us to reach this goal.”

PeaceWorks has a long history of working with non-profit organizations and providing them with affordable technology solutions.

Senior Software Developer Sean Ali says the company welcomed the opportunity to work with Epic Opportunities and help it reach a wider audience.

“In the for-profit sector your website is your salesperson and is working 24/7. For non-profits it’s their advocate, a way for them to carry their message, especially when you add in Facebook and Twitter,” he says. “It’s a way to make a connection to your audience.”

The new website uses a WordPress content management system and a highly-interactive SimplePress theme. In addition to offering more dynamic visuals, Ali says the new system provides increased applications and allows visitors more opportunities to interact with the website.

“It really empowers Epic to take control of the content. It’s very empowering technology,” he says.

Timlick says the website is an example of how Epic Opportunities is using technology to expand its reach. It recently increased its online presence by joining Twitter and is currently developing a Facebook page.

“The way people access information is continually evolving and organizations such as ours have to evolve in terms of how we deliver information to those people,” he says.
