Evening With Epic 2014 (1)

Guests at this year’s An Evening With Epic fundraiser were treated to a truly epic evening.

This year’s annual fundraiser for the Epic Opportunities Foundation proved to be an epic event.

An Evening With Epic was held Nov. 6 at the Victoria Inn in Winnipeg. More than 200 guests attended the event, an increase of more than 30 per cent from the previous year.

Preliminary numbers indicate the event helped raise in excess of $26,000, which will be used to provide accessible homes for individuals with intellectual disabilities in Winnipeg.

Epic Opportunities representatives say they were especially pleased with the support provided by the organization’s corporate partners. Corporate sponsorship nearly doubled from the previous year, rising to slightly more than $14,000. Executive Director Ruby Reimer says the growing corporate support for the fundraiser shows the organization’s business partners understand Epic Opportunities’ vision of an inclusive community and support the idea that everyone deserves a home they can call their own.

The local business community provided additional support in the form of numerous prizes for rainbow and silent auctions which raised about $3,800 during the evening. Prizes included a pair of Winnipeg Jets tickets, artwork donated by several local artists and a six-day stay at the beautiful Lake Louise Resort courtesy of Shelter Canadian Properties Ltd.

One of the highlights of the evening was a captivating performance by wonderist Chris Funk who dazzled the crowd with his one-of-a-kind magic and illusions.

The final fundraising total for the evening is expected to rise as donations continue to trickle in. Anyone wishing to make a donation to the Epic Opportunities Foundation can do so by visiting our website at www.epicmb.ca or by calling (204) 982-4673.
