Epic Opportunities is seeking candidates to fill our Mental Health Capacity Builder role in our dynamic team.

The Mental Health Capacity Builder is responsible to design and lead the Epic Opportunities “Bridging the Gap” initiative, which will focus on best practice mental health and wellbeing supports for people living with intellectual or developmental disabilities. In alignment with Epic Opportunities’ mission, vision, and values, they will develop evidence-based mental health services, foster an environment of respect, and strive to empower people to achieve their desired mental wellness outcomes by offering mental health resources such as education, consulting, and access to person-directed therapy sessions. They will lead and develop support staff by training, coaching and mentoring them to uphold identified mental health strategies and promote wellness goals.
This is a Part- time position for a 1 year term.

We will count on you to:
- Lead the organization’s mental health services with a primary focus on building mental wellness capacity and improving people’s mental health outcomes.
- Play a crucial role in supporting individuals who are struggling with mental health issues, while dealing with the barriers around their disabilities.
- Increase awareness by developing and facilitating mental health education sessions such as group discussions or workshops.
- Plan, schedule, conduct and monitor therapy sessions in conjunction with other community partners and resources.
- Work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team that includes people supported, natural supports, support workers and other professionals.
- Work in collaboration with the Epic Opportunities service delivery team to identify specific measurable outcomes and methods to evaluate the project’s success.

- Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to listen, understand the problem and respond to various situations.
- Must be comfortable delivering training to a wide range of learners from various backgrounds.
- Continuously engage in organizational improvement to enhance quality of life for all people served.
- A valid Manitoba Driver’s License and use of a personal vehicle is preferred.
Qualifications and experience we are looking for:
- Post Secondary Degree in Human Services, Psychology or Applied Counselling (at a bachelor’s or master’s level) with five years of leadership experience.
- Specialized knowledge in assisting individuals with intellectual disabilities is preferred.
- Previous experience specializing in mental health to support the neurodivergent community is an asset.
- Demonstrated strong working knowledge of Mental Health & Wellness theory is essential.
- Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.
The successful applicant will be asked to provide a Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search and both a Child and Adult Abuse Registry check upon hire at their own expense.

Salary: $23.41-$29.82 per hour, depending on education and experience.
