What’s Your Love Language?

July 30, 2025

This summer, our team and community members are excited to share their love languages. Some of the primary love languages expressed included Togetherness, Inclusion, Neurodiversity, Belonging, and Advocacy. While these love languages may carry different meanings for each individual, one thing is certain: they emphasize unity, community-building, and honoring the intrinsic value of every person.

Today, we delve deeper into the concept of advocacy. Advocacy involves championing a cause through actions such as voicing opinions, influencing decision-makers, raising awareness, and driving change. You can choose to advocate for others or be a self-advocate. For us, this entails creating an inclusive environment that allows individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities to engage fully in life and community, and that includes advocacy efforts.

By advocating for ourselves and one another, we open doors to new opportunities for connection and empathy, enriching our community with varied expressions of care and appreciation. There are countless ways—such as events, workshops, and shared experiences—through which we can convey love and support.

Whether it’s through a heartfelt gesture, a shared laugh, or simply being present, these expressions strengthens our community bonds. This summer, we invite you to celebrate the unique ways we demonstrate care and understanding. Let’s work together to create spaces where everyone feels valued and cherished, and continue to cultivate an environment where love and acceptance flourish.
