Epic Opportunities is seeking candidates to fill our Director Of Human Resources role in our dynamic team.

The Director, HR provides strategic and operational leadership for all people-related functions across Epic Opportunities. As a trusted advisor to the Executive Director, leadership team, and Board of Directors, this role champions an inclusive, values-driven culture while leading organizational initiatives related to workforce planning, employee engagement, leadership development, labour relations, compliance, and organizational effectiveness. Through thoughtful people strategies and operational excellence, the Director ensures employees are supported, empowered, and aligned with Epic’s mission and strategic priorities.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership
- Provide strategic leadership and oversight for Human Resources and Office Administration.
- Lead onboarding, training, supervision, coaching, performance evaluation, and professional development.
- Advance a strategic vision for people and administrative functions that strengthens organizational effectiveness.
Communication and Relationships
- Build and maintain effective relationships with employees, union representatives, leadership, funders, community partners, and professional organizations.
- Model organizational values in all interactions.
- Maintain knowledge of legal, ethical, privacy, labour, employment, and human rights requirements.
Administration and Data Management
- Ensure accurate collection, reporting, analysis, and secure management of HR data and personnel records.
- Use workforce data to inform organizational decision-making and continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with legislative, regulatory, and organizational requirements.
Performance Management and Improvement Systems
- Lead organizational orientation, training, and professional development initiatives.
- Develop and maintain performance management and evaluation systems.
- Support leaders with performance coaching, feedback, discipline, and risk reduction.
Human Resource Planning and Reporting
- Establish and monitor organizational HR performance metrics and workforce targets.
- Analyze recruitment, turnover, overtime, vacancy, leave, training, and employee satisfaction data.
- Provide strategic workforce insights to support organizational planning.
Safety and Health
- Provide leadership to workplace safety and health committees.
- Ensure compliance with workplace safety legislation and safe work practices.
- Oversee safety-related training and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Monitor workplace risks, incidents, and injuries while implementing proactive prevention strategies.
Labour Relations
- Lead labour relations initiatives related to collective bargaining, grievance administration, and performance management.
- Participate in workplace investigations and grievance resolution.
- Ensure compliance with collective agreements, employment legislation, organizational policies, and human rights requirements.
Qualifications and experience we are looking for:
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Labour Relations, or a related field; an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
- CPHR designation is considered an asset.
- Minimum five years of progressive human resources leadership experience, including labour relations, collective bargaining, grievance administration, conflict resolution, benefits administration, workforce planning, scheduling, and workplace safety.
- Strong knowledge of leading HR practices, organizational development, employee engagement, and workplace culture.
- Thorough understanding of Manitoba employment, labour, human rights, and workplace safety legislation, including experience within a unionized environment.
- Proven ability to lead diverse teams while fostering collaboration and accountability.
