Supportive Roommates bring a vibrant mix of cultural backgrounds and family dynamics. Whether you’re an individual, a couple, with kids or without, and living in the Winnipeg area, you can make a meaningful impact. Epic Opportunities seeks unique qualities in prospective Supportive Roommates to ensure a meaningful Home Share experience. As a Supportive Roommate it is important that you:

  • Supporting adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities in decision-making and choice-making.
  • Strengthening personal connections and promoting community participation.
  • Assisting with daily care for a balanced lifestyle, including work and leisure.
  • Helping access inclusive community resources (medical, educational, etc.).
  • Aiding in the development of life skills for greater independence.
  • Monitoring medications and attending medical appointments.
  • Encouraging self-advocacy and advocating when necessary.
  • Fostering relationships with family and advocates.
  • Collaborating with coordinators and community members for effective communication.
  • Ensuring compliance with licensing regulations and accessibility standards.

Application Process

Prospective Supportive Roommates will go through a detailed application process involving a Home Share application, reference checks, various registry and criminal record checks, a Home Study Report, Emergency First Aid, and in-home interviews, visits, and inspection.
